ABOUT EDGAR ALLEN POE
Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849) was an American writer, poet, and literary critic best known for his dark and atmospheric tales of mystery, horror, and the macabre. Born in Boston, he faced personal tragedies early in life, including the deaths of his parents and his young wife, Virginia Clemm. These losses profoundly influenced his work.

His most famous poem, “The Raven,” brought him national fame for its haunting rhythm and exploration of grief and madness.
Beyond fiction, Poe was a sharp literary critic, known for his scathing reviews and strong opinions. Despite his talent, he struggled with poverty, depression, and alcoholism throughout his life. He died under mysterious circumstances at the age of 40 in Baltimore.
