What does RECIPROCAL PARISH mean?
When two neighboring parishes say “by their reciprocal agreement,” it means they’ve made a mutual deal or understanding where each parish agrees to do something for the other in return. It’s like saying, “We’ll do this for you if you do that for us,” and both sides benefit equally or in a way they agree is fair.
In Louisiana, many neighboring parishes have their own reciprocal agreements. For this case, one parish let’s say Jefferson, allows Orleans or Plaquemines notaries to operate in their parish. In return, the other parishes allow the same. It’s all about cooperation and ensuring both sides gain something valuable from the arrangement.
